Description:

The Center for Independent Living provides Pre-Placement Training (PPT) which is a 20 course that covers information about career choices, communication skills, resume preparation, completing applications, job search tactics, interviewing skills, rules of work, and money management. To become eligible for this course, an individual must have a disability and be referred through Vocational Rehabilitation.

The Center also supports individuals with disabilities making the choice to become more independent in the community with group and one and one assistance and services. All services are free with employment services being provided through a referral from Vocational Rehabilitation. A list of some of these complimentary services are provided below:

Schedule:

Pre-Placement Training (PPT) is one-on-one or groups for adults depending on their ability to attend, so the completion time is dependent on their participation rate. For our transition students in high school, we have Saturday classes from 9:30 a.m. - 3

Benefits:

Our programs are supplemented by the many support services that we offer.

Meals Provided:

Lunch and snacks are included only during the Saturday PPT classes for youth.

Common Age Group:

Our participants in general programs are from 16 years and up. We can serve families of younger individuals with disabilities with information and referral or advocacy.

Average Number of Participants:

Approximately 3,000 participants are helped over all service areas.

Scholarships:

No scholarships are awarded.

We are contract by Vocational Rehabilitation as a provider of vocational services.
